Dear Friends,
Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon as we come together for our third annual Shalom Summer celebration – our featured summer event! On Sunday, June 22, we invite you to join us for a joyous gathering filled with klezmer music, community, and gratitude. Shalom Summer is more than just a concert, it’s an opportunity to connect with friends and family while enjoying lawn games, activities for kids, and snacks and drinks available for purchase.
The afternoon kicks off with an open klezmer jam session from 3-3:45 PM, where musicians of all levels are welcome to participate. Then, from 4-5:30 PM, prepare to be captivated by the Klezmer All Stars as they take the stage for a spectacular concert. This event will take place rain or shine, and we encourage a suggested donation of $36 to help support this meaningful experience.
The Klezmer All Stars are bringing the soul, spirit, and uncontainable energy of klezmer to life! Led by the legendary Hankus Netsky, a pioneer of the klezmer revival, this powerhouse ensemble fuses deep-rooted tradition with electrifying innovation. With Grant Smith’s driving percussion, Eden MacAdam-Somer’s soaring violin and vocals, Israeli clarinetist Itay Dayan’s fiery melodies, Susan Hoffman Watts’ soulful trumpet, Steve Beskrone’s rich bass, and Dan Blacksberg’s bold trombone, they weave a spell of heart-wrenching doinas, rollicking bulgars, and foot-stomping freylekhs that will have you dancing in no time. From old-world shtetls to modern concert halls, they keep klezmer’s joyous spirit burning bright, so get ready to clap, dance, and celebrate!
If you love live music and can’t wait for an incredible outdoor concert, we invite you to join us even sooner on Sunday, May 5, at 1:30 PM for our Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration. As we mark Israel’s 77th Independence Day, enjoy a delicious Kosher Al Ha’esh Israeli-style BBQ, fun games for all ages, and a special performance by the Hashayara Project. This event will showcase the rich culture, innovative spirit, and resilience of Israel through a lively mix of traditional and contemporary music.
We hope you’ll be part of these extraordinary celebrations. RSVP today and join us in making music, memories, and meaningful connections in our community!
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Moriah SimonHazani
