Our first "Day at the J" Program - Sunday, November 12!

|

Dear Friends,

We are so excited to present an incredible lineup of activities for our first Day at the J, happening this Sunday, November 12. We have planned a diverse range of programs for all ages and interests, ensuring there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy. We’re so excited about how this event has come together that we’re already planning more “Days at the J” in the future, including a special one centered around children and their grandfriends on December 3.

Here’s what we have in store for you this Sunday (November 12):

Kids Gym: Indoor Free Play
Time: 8:30 am to 10:00 am
Class Fee: $5 (Pay at the door) – FREE for those who sign up for the movie screening!
Bring your little ones for a morning of boundless fun at our Kids Gym. We’ll have foam blocks and obstacle course equipment set up in our basketball gym, providing the perfect opportunity for your children to play, explore, and burn off some energy in a safe and supervised environment.

The Rugrats Movie Screening with PJFM
Time: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm (Doors open at 10)
Family Ticket (6 people max): $25
General Admission: $10
Rugrats is more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane during the time of VHS tapes and big TVs with just a few channels. This show has been revered as being one of the first – if only – animated kids series to represent Jewish characters, featuring episodes dedicated to the history of Passover and Hanukkah. In honor of its 25th anniversary, PJFM is bringing this classic back to the big screen at the J!

Klezmer Jam: Music Session
Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
FREE Event – Registration Required
Get ready for an unforgettable musical experience with David Brown and Marvin Weinberger leading a Klezmer Jam session. Explore the rich world of traditional Klezmer melodies and delve into the Sephardic Ladino tradition and related genres that have evolved as part of the Jewish journey through history. Musicians of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to join, and sheet music will be provided. Even if you’re not a musician, you can join us to listen and enjoy the lively tunes. Feel free to bring a vegetarian snack to share!

Hope Matters: The Psychology of Hope with Dr. Adomi Leshem
Time: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
FREE Event – Registration Required
Join us for a thought-provoking talk by Dr. Adomi Leshem, a researcher at the Conflict and Reconciliation Lab, Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and author of the new book, “Hope Amidst Conflict.” Based on extensive research on hope in times of crisis, Dr. Leshem will explore questions such as, “What is hope?” and “How does one sustain hope in an era marked by uncertainty and turmoil?” This event promises to be enlightening and inspiring.

We can’t wait to see you this Sunday, for our first “Day at the J!” To register for any of these events or for more information, please visit the links above, or find a flyer to share with friends and family below!

Shabbat Shalom,
