Meet Beatrice Geiger, The SunriseWALKS Greater Philly Ambassador!
SunriseWALKS Greater Philly is part of Sunrise Association’s National Walk-A-Thon Campaign committed to raising awareness and critical funds for Sunrise Day Camp-Greater Philadelphia. More than just a walk, this event celebrates the fundraising efforts of caring individuals who want to change the lives of children with cancer. Join us for the inaugural event Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Kaiserman JCC for a day filled with music, fun and games, prizes and more!
Beatrice Geiger and her family proudly serve as the Camp Ambassador Family for Greater Philly’s SunriseWALKS. When their 3-year-old daughter, Bea, was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma, the Geiger’s world was turned upside down, stripping away the normalcy they once cherished. During the uncertainty, the Sunrise On Wheels in hospital program provided solace during her treatments. The games, crafts, and glitter brought Bea immense joy, momentarily overshadowing the memories of pokes, medicines, and treatments she endured.
Through this program, the family discovered Sunrise Day Camp – a magical place where Bea and her sister found traces of childhood joy amidst illness. The camp’s inclusive environment and support became a lifeline for the Geiger family, offering moments of happiness and normalcy among the turmoil of cancer. When asked what she loves about camp, Bea says “It is so fun, they are funny, make us dance, sing songs, make slime with us, paint, play music…” the list is endless.
