Dear Friends,
Thank you to all who took the time to attend our blood drive this past Sunday. We continue to be impressed by our community’s generosity, selflessness and dedication to helping others. Of course, the real winners are the patients in need of blood. Each donation can help save up to three lives. These donations are truly appreciated by the blood recipients, their loved ones and all of us here at the J. Below is a message from Kristie Collins, our Red Cross Representative, who shares other ways that the community can contribute.
Shabbat Shalom,
Alan
The Red Cross is proud to partner with Kaisermann JCC to help collect blood donations and save lives during the Covid pandemic and a National Blood Crisis.
Kaisermann JCC has been instrumental in helping the community and the Red Cross by hosting two blood drives in January alone and collecting 77 units of blood which went on to help 231 patients in need. Since 2007, 25 blood drives were run and 690 units of blood were collected which went on to help 2,070 hospital patients in need.
What can you do to help…?
Donate Blood: The American Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis – its worst blood shortage in more than a decade. Make an appointment to give blood or platelets as soon as possible by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
The Red Cross is Hiring: Phlebotomists and drivers needed with paid training!
Visit www.redcross.org/careers
The Red Cross Needs Volunteers: Are you a retiree…or know someone that is a helper? Consider volunteering at local blood drives 1 – 2x per month managing the Registration desk or delivering lifesaving blood to hospitals. Visit www.redcross.org/volunteer
Red Cross Needs Sites and Sponsors to host Blood Drives: Do you know of other sites in Philadelphia, Montgomery or Delaware Counties that could offer their large space to host a blood drive (2,000sq. ft. or more)? Would you like to host a blood drive in Honor of or in Memory of someone to help save lives? If so please reach out to Kristie.Collins@redcross.org
