Darren is a doctoral fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University where he is studying International and Comparative Education. He holds a Masters of Arts degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University and holds a B.A. from American University in Interdisciplinary studies (International Relations,Dance and Theatre). While at Columbia, he was a Fellow at the Earth Institute and helped found the Teachers College Center for Sustainable Futures. His current research revolves around climate change education and social movements. Additionally, he is interested in how Jewish learning can be a conduit for social justice and Tikkun Olam.
Darren has lived many lives. He has worked in Rwanda with vulnerable youth, performed on the flying trapeze on the White House lawn, and performs with an acrobatics company here Philadelphia. He is an avid reader, writer, hiker and gardener and is always happy to talk about his plants.
Darren was a Diller participant in 2009 with the Greater MetroWest (GMW) cohort in New Jersey, a Junior Counselor for GMW in 2011 and Philadelphia’s Diller Teen Fellows Coordinator since 2019 .
